Kevin and Dana Peterson started cooking together as a competition team in 2016 and built it into a full-time catering business — Showtime's Legit BBQ, LLC, legally established in 2022. Five state titles later, they're still based in Benson, NC, turning out the kind of food that makes weddings, reunions, and even Tuesday-night office lunches memorable.
Yes, we win whole-hog championships. We also cater brisket, ribeye steaks, fresh seafood, low country boils, and full custom menus — whatever the event calls for. Kevin and Dana both teach the whole-hog class at NC State BBQ Camp, and that obsession with the craft shows up on every plate.

What areas do you serve?
We're based in Benson, NC, and cater events throughout eastern and central North Carolina — including Raleigh, Clayton, Garner, Smithfield, Dunn, Fayetteville, and the surrounding Johnston, Harnett, Wake, and Sampson counties. Traveling farther? Ask us.
How far in advance should we book?
Sooner is better — especially for weddings and large events during spring and fall. That said, we'll always try to make it work. Send us the date and we'll tell you straight.
What's included with every catering?
Your choice of bread (Hawaiian Rolls, Yeast Rolls, or Hush Puppies), two beverages (sweet tea, unsweet tea, water, or lemonade), and all disposables — plates, napkins, cups, and cutlery.
Do you cater more than just BBQ?
Absolutely — that's our whole motto. We do a lot of steak catering, fresh seafood, low country boils, full plated dinners, and custom menus for weddings, corporate events, and private parties. If you have something specific in mind, ask us.
